Generation zero was a steel barrier from 1988, and steel stayed the material for ten years. In 1998 an aluminium prototype matched the test results of the steel barrier.

The name Mojo Barrier® is widely known in the industry as the first high-quality brand of aluminium stage barriers. It goes back to Mojo Barriers BV, which develops these barrier systems in-house and has every system tested by independent institutes.
In 2005 the Museum of Modern Art in New York showed the aluminium Mojo Barrier in its exhibition “SAFE: Design Takes On Risk”.

Straights
Straight Section
The basic element of every Mojo barrier line. The G1 and G3 come in 1.00 m and 0.50 m lengths; the G3 is black on a silver floor plate.
Corners
Vario Corner
A hinged corner, set on site between −49° and +60°.
Corners
Flex Corner
A hinged corner that bends the line from −90° to +90°.

Fixed Corners
Fixed steps of 22.5° and 45°, each as a positive and a negative corner.

Cable Gate
Cables cross the line through a 110 mm opening below the door.

Each generation of Mojo stage barriers changed the material or the focus of the system.
G1
Aluminium, 1998
In 1998 Mojo Barriers BV developed the aluminium barrier, around 40 % lighter than steel. With the new Vario and Flex Corners, the barrier line can follow almost any stage shape. Sections join with one bolt and two location pins.
G2
Crowd management, 2012
In use since 2012, with crowd management in focus. Its slim design takes up less space than the G1, which makes transport efficient and suits the touring industry. The sloped front edge of the floor plate is designed to reduce the risk of tripping.
G3
Sustainability
A new generation has followed roughly every ten years; the G3 is the latest, developed with sustainability in focus. Straight Sections join with two location pins and one bolt, plus an optional second bolt at the top for inner corners under extremely high pressure.

Development
Barrier Load Monitor System
Pressure sensors in the load-bearing struts measure the crowd pressure on the barrier line, and Mojo's own software shows it in real time. Security teams see where pressure builds up and can react before it becomes critical. The readings are recorded for later analysis.
Research with Bucks New University
Together with the UK university, Mojo Barriers BV started the programme at Roskilde Festival in Denmark. Measurements from the Barrier Load Monitor System gave data on how crowds behave at the barrier line during live events. The aim was to learn which barrier formations suit which venues and situations, and to bring that experience to later events.
Gatekeeper
Launched in January 2009, the turnstile system counts people in and out of an event area in real time. Organisers get live information on how many people are on site at any time.
Gatekeeper 2.0
First unveiled at Graspop Festival in Belgium in June 2013, the system features integrated ticket scanning, allowing tickets to be validated and visitors to be counted simultaneously at the entrance.

Yes. TÜV NORD Nederland tested all four G3 modules in 2025. The certificate TÜV-NL-2410-D-228 is valid until June 2028 and covers:

Yes. All parts of the G1 generation, the aluminium Mojo Barrier from 1998, can still be rented. Your rental company tells you which generations and modules are available for your event dates.
Three parts of the design work together at the front of the stage:
- Floor plate: the people standing on it hold the barrier in place; on the G3 Straight Section it reaches about 0.72 m towards the audience
- Rear step: security staff stand on it to watch the crowd
- Direct access: from the step, security can reach people in the front rows and help them out of the crowd
No. Mojo Barriers BV does not provide CAD files. The data sheets in English and German give dimensions and certificates. To avoid surprises on site, check the final layout with your rental company.
