Sold-out shows from New Jersey
Bon Jovi's Circle Tour opened on 9 July 2010 in New Jersey, the band's home, in front of 68,000 people. Ten sold-out shows followed, including a festival headline slot on 23 July where Mojo Barriers also provided the crowd control barrier.
For the three-week Canadian leg, Mojo Barriers' US office created a curved aluminium barrier system: 130 metres of Mojo Barrier®, complete with custom emergency gates for the inner circular pit.
Planning the layout with the tour team
JB Dolphin and Matthew Tamulis of Mojo Barriers worked with Bon Jovi's head of security and the tour production manager to make sure the barrier set-up met the needs of the record crowds. Matthew Tamulis was on site in New Jersey to advise the tour production team on setting up the curved system.
A convex curve around the ring
Safety is always a high concern and therefore we needed to create a robust and secure barrier and emergency gate system. …
The barrier also had to fit the circular stage design. The barriers formed a curved semi-circle around the ring platform that extended from the stage, so the crowd could gather in a circle around the ring.
For this system to be successful in accommodating the crowd pressure and to ensure everyone's safety, we used different pieces to create a convex curve around the circular stage. …
Throughout the tour there was a VIP section in an inner circular pit. Mojo provided four custom emergency gates there, so people could leave the circle quickly if needed.
