Black Mojo Barriers in front of a festival main stage

Front of stage

Stage barriers
for any layout

Four aluminium modules, the Straight Section and three corner modules, join into one front-of-stage barrier line for concerts, festivals and other events. Straight Sections hold the crowd, corners follow the shape of the stage, and gates such as the Snake Gate let crew and cables through.

The system

Mojo Barriers was the first company to launch a specially designed stage barrier system

It started in 1988 with a steel barrier from Mojo Concerts; since 1998 the line has been aluminium. Today Mojo stage barriers form the line between stage and audience at concerts and festivals, as a straight row or around catwalks and thrusts. To plan a barrier layout for a specific venue, start with crowd control.

How they fit together

Corners and openings that continue the line

Each module is designed to connect to the adjoining section, so the line can turn at catwalks and thrusts or open at mix positions. The corners close the line without a gap, and gates such as the Snake Gate set an entry point for crew and cables. Between events, see how the barriers are transported.

Test reports

Independently tested since 1996

Every module in this range has a test behind it. The twelve documents below are sorted by test body and include the Snake Gate, which is listed with the gates; each names exactly which module was tested, and data sheets with dimensions are on the downloads page.

FAQ

Stage barriers: questions

Two contacts, depending on the question:

  • Technical data and tests: Mojo Barriers BV

A stage barrier keeps the audience at a distance from the stage at concerts, festivals and other events, from a day festival to a night show. It is also called a front-of-stage barrier or crowd barrier, and it is essential wherever people press towards the stage. On a Mojo Barrier®, the audience stands on the floor plate in front of the upright, which holds the barrier in place. Behind the upright, a rear step gives security staff a working position with a good view of the crowd.

Choose the module by the shape of the line and the style of the stage: straight runs, fixed turns or variable angles.

ModuleUse
Straight SectionStraight runs on a 1.00 m grid
Fixed Corner 22.5° and 45°Fixed turns, 45° for sharper changes of direction
Vario & Flex CornersVariable angles; the Flex Corner also closes small gaps to avoid open spots in the line

Openings for crew and cables, such as the Snake Runner and Snake Gate, are listed with the gates and entrances.

It is the horizontal load per metre of barrier line that a test applies. In practice:

  • 5 kN/m equals 5,000 newtons on every metre of the line
  • The figure is a test load, not a crowd count: it shows how much push a line was tested to take
  • Every Mojo test reached at least this value; the corners tested by Lloyd's British Testing in the UK went up to 7.46 kN/m
  • Each figure applies to the barrier version that was tested

A Mojo Barrier is 1.18–1.20 m high, depending on the module and production series, on a 1.00 m grid.

Straight Section1.18–1.20 m
Fixed Corner 22.5° and 45°1.20 m

No. Mojo Barriers BV does not sell its barriers; you rent them in three steps:

  1. Find your country under Where to rent
  2. Contact the MOJO Holding Group company there and describe the layout you wanted, from a straight front to a thrust
  3. Their crew plans the line, delivers the barriers and sets them up before the first people arrive
