A first year in Chicago
Lollapalooza ran in Chicago, Illinois, from 5 to 7 August 2011. Eminem, Foo Fighters, Coldplay and Muse were among the artists, playing to crowds of up to 90,000 people a day.
It was Mojo Barriers' first year at the festival. Mojo designed and set up a new stage barrier configuration to improve site safety.
500 metres in front of the two main stages
Before the event, Mojo worked closely with festival organiser C3 Presents and security specialists NPB on the new layout. It improved crowd safety in front of the two main stages, created an effective working space for show security and kept the stage separate from the audience.
The two stage layouts were made up of 500 metres of Mojo stage barrier, with a 140-foot thrust leading to the front-of-stage tower. That gave security and other staff good access.
A main stage on hilly ground
Our unique barrier system is designed to be highly adaptable and we offer a wide range of additions such as curved sections, corners and gates, meaning that our designs can be completely tailored no matter what the site requirements. This was particularly useful at Lollapalooza as one of the main stages is on hilly ground. This was our first year working for the festival and the partnership was a huge success for all involved.
After Lollapalooza, C3 Presents gave Mojo the contract for Austin City Limits, a music festival in Texas that September. Mojo's Jack Hayes managed the project.
