Restricted zones across a city
The G20 Leaders’ Summit brought heads of state including Barack Obama and David Cameron, more than 4,000 delegates and 3,000 media to Brisbane. The barrier system had to create restricted zones across the city and form protective walls around venues including the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Coates Hire contracted Mojo Barriers to supply a barrier solution to a specification from police and government officials.
The brief was to create a product to act as a deterrent and keep the public out of restricted areas. … the clear upper section gives security personnel uninterrupted views of the surrounding areas.
A 2.4-metre barrier
The result was High Fence: sections 1 m wide and 2.4 m high, made of reinforced aluminium barrier with a see-through polycarbonate upper. It is not weighted or pinned to the ground and stands on its own.
Doors and gates were integrated into the barrier line, so fire safety and access and egress regulations could be met.
Overnight shifts in a complex grid
The Australian Mojo team set up more than 2,000 metres of High Fence across the city, working in limited overnight shifts in a complex grid.
We assembled a skilled team of nine local and international supervisors, managed over fifty truck movements and directed a crew of over one-hundred hands.
After the summit, 2,500 metres of High Fence were available across Mojo Barriers’ offices in the UK, Europe, Australia and the USA, for police, security and event use.
